At Skills and Ability School, Yoga has been an integral and important part of the educational program devised for the students with intellectual impairment. Volunteers from Ambika YogKutir have been conducting yoga session for all the students twice a week in two batches for the last 10 years.
Since the last two years, the School has been celebrating International Yoga day in the month of June to promote the benefits of yoga and to give an opportunity to the students to perform the asans independently. Parents are invited to attend the program. The students, teachers and parents assemble in the School hall in the morning. The volunteers give a brief introduction about the program and presentation on the different Asanas is displayed along with demonstration and benefits of each pose.
This year it was a unique event where in selected students were seated in front of the audience and they demonstrated the various yoga poses (Asanas) independently. They were able to perform the various poses smoothly, correctly and confidently much to the delight of the teachers and parents.
